Not “Ridiculously Simple”

I’m in PA school and a big fan of this book series. They, in general, are very helpful and concise. This one, however, is an exception. Much of my class, including myself, found acid-base balance and electrolytes to be confusing. I purchased this book as a supplement to our lectures. Unlike the name, I did not find the book to be “ridiculously simple.” The book was dense and didn’t seem at all like the other books in the series. Instead, it was more like a chapter taken from a textbook. The information was no less confusing or complicated than our textbook or class material. I shared with some classmates and they agreed with my assessment. None of them found it very helpful.

The information is accurate and once I understood it this book made a lot more sense. If you need an explanation that isn’t necessarily simplified, this is a good resource. If you’re looking for a brief, concise resource, this isn’t for you.

Perfect condition. Very informative and uses true scientific and medical terms with out being “text book” . I am a nursing student who is a Licensed Nurse’s Assistant & now a dialysis tech trainee.This format is great I recommend other similar products for all medical staff. The best route to mastery of acid base problems. After reading this book (not a ridiculously simple book by the way) I believe there is no acid base problem I cannot attack and dissect. It will take effort, but by the conclusion you will never be thrown by any combination of ph, bicarb, electrolytes, CO2. Only criticism is that it needs more problems at the ends of each chapter.

I’m a 2nd year medical student and I read through this book over a couple days during my kidney block. It is short and an easy read so it was a nice supplement to our course material. I really liked that it contained numerous practice problems at the end of each chapter to illustrate the main points. I would definitely recommend this to other 1st or 2nd year medical students looking for an outside source on this material. I think that at any higher level you will need a much more detailed source. But at this level I found it very useful. Great price too.
