Features of Before the World Wakes PDF

Before the World Wakes PDF-A joyous celebration of the sights and sounds of daybreak and that special feeling a brother and sister have when they get to experience it together.

When everything is still gentle and quiet-ish and the stars say good morning at the same time they say good night, a brother and sister venture outside. They marvel at the dance of the snails and the birdsong that surrounds them. And then they join in, reveling in the early morning—and their time together before the rest of the world wakes.

With lyrical language and beautiful art, this book captures the magic of daybreak, the importance of small moments, and the special bond between siblings.

Alpha Zed “I think this book tried to give the right message and almost got there but messed it up slightly. The illustrations and message of exploring nature and spending time with family was good but the children were alone and could have been hurt. Many people have brought up that the children were being watched by the mom in the window and I understand the point but in other panels you see children sounded by wilderness alone. I also think the fact that the children looked like they were sneaking out even if the parent caught them I still think that it sends a bad message. Also kids in more urban areas could wonder of into a park because they wanted to see nature but end up getting lost, hurt, or even taken. The book had good intent but I would have to thoroughly explain to my younger cousin if I read this to her not to sneak out alone without an adult.

I Am Not A Big Fan Of This Book, Because Well I Think It Shows The Wrong Message, I Can Clearly See What Message The Author Was Going For, But I Feel As If The Message Is Well, It’s Kind Of Like A Spill Of Milk On A White Carpet. Not Clear, Not Seen, Not Heard. But Most Of All I Think The Age Groupings Are Incorrect. I Think Three Year Olds Should NOT Be Reading This Book. For Kids Who Live In Urban Areas Or In A Place We’re It’s Not Safe For Them To Go Out In The Dark, This Book Is Unrealistic, And A Three year Old Or A Four Or Even Five Year Old Living In One Of These Areas May Not Be Abel To Understand That This Woodland Fairy Tale Is Impossible For Them To Achieve. And These Children Of These Ages Should Not Be Going Out In The Dark Alone. I Do Agree With The Point That The Children Are Being Watched But Even Being Watched Is Not Enough To Inshore A Childs Safety, If A Adult Were To Look Away They May Look Back And Not See The Children.

From the adult: these 2 urban girls read the story and all the reviews and had a vigorous debate about the pros and cons. Then they wrote their own reviews.”

DisneyDenizen “I’m not quite sure what to make of this book. On the one hand, it’s a sweet story with lovely illustrations. On the other hand, it encourages eloping.

When I started reading it, I thought perhaps it was playing to an ASD or introvert audience, so I was intrigued. But once I realized that for the majority of the book the two children are outside traipsing about while the rest of the world sleeps, I was significantly put off. That is really not behavior we want to encourage.”

Serenity. “The author has written this for ages 3 to 7 and it is a delightful story for those ages. The drawings are bright and colorful and will hold the attention of the little ones in your life.

It makes me wish I was a morning person so I could enjoy the peace of that time of day as well as the solitude. And, as one of the little children says ‘being together’ is the best part of the morning.

The morning sounds of the birds and the awakenings of the snails and the flowers are also mentioned.

Indeed such a joyous time to be alive. And, also remember to be joyful.

Highly recommended.”

Geek “I’m concerned for the children on the lower end of the age group that this book is recommended for. The older children can be reasoned with to not try this if they live in an urban settings or an unsafe suburban neighborhood. Younger children who don’t understand might find this all together too tempting to experience on their own. I say this because it would have influenced me to sneak outside early in the morning.
This book encourages kids to experience the early morning without adult supervision; it encourages secret morning experiences shared only with a sibling.

The dangers for our children today are numerous and serious. Whereas I don’t agree with another reviewer’s comment about it encourages eloping, I do agree that it’s not a book that I’d recommend for the age group that it’s intended for.”

LBM “This story encourages young children to leave the house in the middle of the early morning hours and to keep secrets from their parents. Not a good message. The illustrations are lovely and the basic idea of being awake in the early morning hours and enjoying nature are fine, but there are two very wrong underlying messages that a child would get. Why would you want to encourage children to sneak out of the house? Why would you want to encourage children to keep secrets from their parents? Unfortunately I Will be happy to look at the pictures with a toddler but never read the story.”
