 Great Book

April 15, 2013

I am a fourth year medical student rotating on EM. I found the cases to be pretty comprehensive, and actually go and explain pathophysiology, and apply some of the basic historical and physical exam findings that may be forgotten over time. The beginning of the book challenges you to think about each case, not just “what is the diagnosis?” but also, “what are the next steps that need to be taken?”. That practice, along with the reading material, has really been wonderful. As someone preparing for internship pretty soon, this book actually makes me feel more confident in my ability to manage patients.

Used it to study for PA-S end of rotation exams and it was a fantastic book! it had everything I needed to know. I would highly recommend it to any PA-S out there looking for a way to steady for EORs.

 Perfect for med student clerkship!

Nice overview and perfect for med student clerkship! I am not going into emergency medicine and wanted something that just gave me a good basic understanding of common emergencies. Case Files definitely provided that. However, if you are looking for more detail and current guidelines and practices in EM you may consider getting a more comprehensive resource.
