This is a tremendously helpful resource that has been extremely useful for working with clients who have experienced trauma. As trauma is processed, this tool has been utilized to educate and inform the clients as to the specifics of their psychological, physiological, and emotional responses. It has helped normalize trauma responses by simply offered a user-friendly guide.

This is a great tool for explaining states of activation and helping people understand how behavior can escalate very quickly-especially in kids. I use it all the time now to help people understand zones.

I do a lot of “trauma work” and plan to use this chart to help when I am educating clients on their “states.” Like several of the reviewers, I wish the chart was a little larger. I would actually give this chart a 4.5, if I could add the .5. However, I was thrilled to see a lot of the verbiage I currently use with clients (i.e., ventral vagus, sympathetic nervous system, and dorsal vagus).

Amazing graphic to help people understand Autonomic Dysregulation of Panic and Anxiety

This chart helps me understand what my son experiences with panic disorder. It also helped me to have a discussion with him and help him understand what happens to him and that it’s not a weakness or a character defect. It’s an automatic response of the body / brain and there are some body based trauma therapies to help reset this response. Dr. Peter Levine’s SE-Somatic Experiencing, and Dr. David Berceli’s TRE – Tension and Trauma Release Exercise, to name just a couple.

Autonomic nervous system

I have autonomic neuropathy disorder. My specialist does her tests every time I see her . She doesn’t have the time to fully explain this impact on my life. My new therapist has this chart and when I found it I questioned her knowledge and understanding of it. It’s her favorite visual aide. When I got mine because of lack of concentration due to brain surgeries couldn’t keep me up with the chart. My specialist loves it and I told my therapist she just earned 100 brownie points.

Extremely useful for quick assessment and explanation

This card is extremely useful for quick assessment and explanation of the different states of activation. for students, therapists, and clients. I think larger print would have been better, other than that, an excellent tool.
