Great Resource for Re-entry to Nursing

I am reentering nursing practice (as an LVN) after nearly 14 years out of service. A lot has changed since I practiced in Texas… this handy booklet has been extremely helpful while taking a nursing refresher course and will be helpful as I transition to an ADN RN program.
The tabs (see the pics) are helpful to find the info needed quickly for different assessments, treatments, proposed nursing diagnoses, etc.

The book contains a lot of good information but the printing is so small it’s very hard to read and being a nurse and over 50 it’s hard to read small print anymore

This small notepad is amazing… it fits in my scrub top. I use it for reference as too anatomical landmarks for injection… or certain drugs that I need to be aware of… certain assessments… lab values… etc… I use this notepad when I’m at school for lab and definitely in clinical.

So incredibly useful for school, studying for the NCLEX and for reference at work!! I had a hand-me-down version from 2004 that I really liked and I wanted to get an up to date version and I am so glad that I did. The updated version is so well put together and includes so many tables, diagrams and pictures which are so helpful. Worth reading especially in today’s world

When I first started reading Man’s Search…. last week I was repulsed by the descriptions of the concentration camp experiences. How could humans be like that? Even though of course we have known about them for 70 years now, it is horrible to read about them. My temptation was to put the book aside, I told someone it was “depressing.” But how glad I am that I persevered (because it was our Book Club choice this month.) Ultimately, this book is a hopeful paen to humankind’s ability to rise above all suffering, to find our own individual meaning to our existence and in that way make sense of why we are in the world and why we should continue in it, doing our very best. This book transcends religion even as I recognize so much of what Frankl writes in my own religious beliefs.
Truly a must read for people as soon as they are old enough to understand it–perhaps mid teenage years.
