Would be an enjoyable story if the author could write with some class. Being crude, vulgar and profane seems to be a common trait among fiction writers. James Chandler is definitely off my approved list of authors.

Great Read from New Author

Once I started I couldn’t put it down. The main character Sam Johnstone has his own problems with PTSD as a result of being the sole survivor of his military team. Years later his still struggling with guilt but now he has to save another troubled vet from a death sentence. Plenty of twists and turns. Looking forward to more from James Chandler!

I just finished this book and have ordered the next one in the series. It’s a legal mystery thriller of the Grisham type. James Chandler kept my interest, weaving various hints and clues, some in the right direction, some to throw me a curve ball, with some intriguing character development thrown in that will likely come to play in the next book. There are a few expletives that always bother me, but in the real world of such drama there would likely be many more. I’m anxious to read his next book in the series and am glad for the quality and success of this new author’s first novel. I can see a movie possibility also. If you’re looking for a good one to read on a winter weekend, this is it!

Excellent read…Chandler developed the characters and plot with just enough details that I had to keep going back to see where and how he had artfully placed issues that I missed-a hallmark of thrillers and suspense for me. Just enough “legalese” to help the non-lawyer understand the true magnitude of the issues and down to earth characters that made me feel like I was part of the story. Twists that surprised me and enough intrigue that leaves me anticipating what Chandler has next for his main character, Sam Johnstone, and me as I tag along on his adventures. Must read.
