Item is not bad and delivery was very good.

The delivery of the package was great, so much better by far than the two previous books that where delivered where the driver of those items was being lazy and left the items outside in the front entrance of my apartment complex where anyone from the streets could have stolen the boxes (happened before). The delivery guy did good this time and hope all future delivery guys will follow in leaving the item IN FRONT of my actual unit door and not be lazy. Now for the item itself, it was not bad, the pages where in great condition however the spine on the book was literally falling apart and was horribly held in place by a scotch tape albeit done very poorly (check the picture). But pages where good.

Excellent Textbook for Medical Students

This is a fantastic book. Personally, I like the organization of the most relevant pathology from two years of medical school in this textbook over Robbins. I bought this book because Robbins tends to include extra details not relevant for first or second year students, given the limited time and the volume of information to assimilate. I really appreciated the section on pathogenesis of systemic diseases in this new edition as it really helped me think through the big picture of systemic diseases. This book is helpful in developing a framework for each disease, which is an important initial step in learning good clinical reasoning. In this book, clinical features section for each organ system disease is a plus for me as I like to think about how each disease may present in the clinic (typically). This book also includes pathophysiology, which is essential to integrate when learning pathology. I highly recommend this textbook to all medical students.

Outstanding. I never heard of it until a couple of years ago as Robbins and Cotran was often talked about as the Bible of pathology, but it rivals Robbins and Cotran in terms of clarity and coverage; their coverage of different diseases differs, so I read both. Rubin’s does cover the occasional zebra (e.g., progeria) that Robbins and Cotran doesn’t. Both are very readable and well-supplied with illustrations and photographs, and I recommend both. Rubin’s textbook is cited frequently by Ross’ Histology, a required medical text.

Very useful for understanding the mechanisms behind tons of diseases. I like having the hard copy to always reference and it usually has good and to the point descriptions of everything with great pictures.

Not nearly as good as Robbin’s and Cotran’s… in so many ways. It’s “okay”… if you like to get more details/depth, and a better flow to the material, go with Robbins. Try both before you buy.
