This has become the go to book for students, teachers, educators, professionals, and home-school parents & children to rapidly improve their reading.

It offers simple tips to not only accelerate reading speed, but also comprehension and memory.

Unlike other books that merely teach you to skim & scan, this book taps into your brain and eyes’ amazing power to naturally read more words in a shorter time.

Please Note:

With self-publishing becoming easier, there is growing competition on .

It is not uncommon for authors to post negative reviews on other books to boost their own sales.

** With that, please take the low star reviews here with a grain of salt as they DO NOT reflect the actual content. Contrary to some reviews, the book offers a mix of new and time-tested techniques supported by research, with detailed explanations, and properly credited. **

In fact, this isn’t your average speed reading book.

I spent years refining the instructions to double or even triple you reading speed with a few simple shifts. No skimmingno scanning, but reading every word with double or triple the speed.

Then with the additional tips and exercises, you will raise that level until you are comfortably reading a 200+ page book in 1 hour.

Guy Lecky-Thompson “I thought I had a pretty good handle on speed reading and absorbing information coherently and quickly. It turns out I had only one or two tricks up my sleeve: Kam Knight’s well informed, engaging and genuinely useful Speed Reading has added many more tools to help me accelerate the reading process.

Be warned, though: it’s going to take some effort on your part.

The book is divided into sections that take care of the crucial aspects of the speed reading process, from preparation through to techniques to make sure that you don’t just read but also understand and absorb what’s been written, as well as being able to recall what you’ve learned.

Each chapter contains a technique, some key examples and applications and then a chance to apply the techniques. Even though most readers, won’t do this the first time around, I’d encourage you to take the time to run through these drills just to check that the technique (a) works, and (b) you have internalised them.

After all, there’s no point in learning a new technique if it doesn’t work. And, if it doesn’t, that’s usually because the reader has missed a vital detail in the process. Doing the drills helps to close that gap.

If I had to be critical, I would say that there’s a lot to absorb in Speed Reading. To tell the truth, some readers will find that they don’t need every technique. In fact, even for someone like me who already knew one or two of the techniques in advance, I don’t think I’ll be using all the ones I’ve learned; at least not right away.

And that’s the criticism: if you use all the techniques, there’s a chance you’ll meet the premise of the book – 200+ pages in 60 minutes. Using only a few of them, however, allows you to easily meet the premise halfway – 100 pages read, understood, and the key points they contain absorbed, per hour.

To close the gap takes practice. This book is one you will come back to until you’ve managed to master all the techniques on offer. Once you master them and become an expert in Speed Reading, you will be astonished at the rate at which you can devour a book – and without diminishing its utility or your enjoyment!”

Halle “They are clearly fake and some don’t even make sense. I almost passed up this book and nearly missed out on solid advice because of them so I want to shine light on these suspicious reviews so you can make a better decision.

Some claim to have practiced “diligently,” but many of the suggestions don’t require diligent practice, just a few simple shifts. My reading speed doubled instantly from the suggestion in chapter 4, and it wasn’t short term, but permanent, and I am the evidence. Some complain about lack of research or citations, but the books is heavily researched citing numerous articles, journals, studies, books, and professionals in various field. Others argue reading more is the only way to increase speed. Reading more will help, but reading more the right way is FAR better otherwise you develop habits difficult to break later. I presume you’ve read a lot already, but still struggling or not reaching your potential.

All this begs the question, if these reviewers know so much about speed reading and convinced it doesn’t work, why are they reading a book about it anyway? Maybe because the newer speed reading books are copied from Kam Knight, believe me I’ve read them. Peter Hollins, John R. Torrance, and others practically stole their material and title directly from here. That’s what these new breed of so called “authors” do, find books selling well, copy it, post negative reviews like Jeb so they can make money. They bring nothing new, simply rehash what others have written, and do a poor job.

It’s a thing. When I was looking to write a book, I came across courses selling these exact tactics, telling students to probe other author’s books and outlines. Copying the actual tips is not the issue as there is little new advice in the world, but they copy the title, outline, explanations, and examples. Kam actually brings innovation to speed reading with tips like Space Reading and exciting explanations like the predictive nature of the brain. Unlike other books, Kam doesn’t just give you tips, but provides numerous ways to apply them. He doesn’t just give techniques to increase speed, but breaks them down so they can be started with simple shifts.

You are also getting a stand alone resource. Some speed reading books I’ve read introduce a topic but send you to another book or up-sell a $500 to $800 course. Having bought my share of courses, I can say this guide provides as much material as the expensive courses. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s them behind the reviews so they can keep charging hundreds of dollars for advice you can get for a few bucks.

Do yourself a favor, ignore the reviews the good and bad and just get it. It’s a few dollars and very quick read. There are over 15 chapters and each chapter provides numerous tips and insights to improve your reading speed, comprehension, and memory. You will definitely find something useful!”

Jeb “I bought this book based on the good reviews. It did not work for me, and now I know why.

Typically, I look for evidence-based ways to improve performance. This book, and the reviews for it, make claims about reading performance improvement but provide no references to any research. So, I went looking and, among other evidence and lack of evidence, I found a research article from 2016 titled “So Much to Read, So Little Time: How Do We Read, and Can Speed Reading Help?” Basically, you can improve your reading speed in short bursts but, over the long-term, you cannot improve reading speed without reduced comprehension. In other words, by skimming you can go faster but you loose comprehension.

This book makes the claim that you can double or triple reading speed within minutes and even further with practice, and that you can read a 200+ page book in one hour. There is no evidence to support this.

There is a chapter on subvocalization in which the author says that most people are guilty of this habit in which you move your lips or speak words out loud while reading. I have seen some children do this. I have never seen an adult do this. This is useless for most people.

In the chapter on regression the author says that regression reduces comprehension. This would be true if you focus on each individual word. This would only apply to the slowest readers.

In the chapter on visual range the author claims that you can learn to read a page by looking down the centerline of the page. People trained in “speed reading” have been tested with devices that track their eye movements. They scan each line as anyone normally would, they must, or they will lose comprehension.

There is a dubious chapter on eye exercises. We are told to do these daily. As with the rest of the book, there is no evidence presented to show that this improves reading speed.

Like many self-help books, this one is full of hype. People get hyped long enough to leave a glowing review, but the long-term benefits are unproven.

Here are some things that I have found that do work to improve reading speed:

1. Improve your vocabulary and comprehension so that you do not get stuck on words or phrases and have to re-read them.
2. Be more selective about what you read. Skim some documents and focus on the content you need. You will not read faster, but you will get more value from what you read.
3. Use proven techniques to overcome fatigue and depression and develop the ability to relax and focus. This will help you read faster because you will not loose focus and have to re-read. It will also allow you to spend more time reading.”
