Standard textbook,against which other books are judged

I bought this book for my daughter ,plus the flash cards. Gray’s Anatomy has been a standard text for medical schools,let’s hope she enjoys learning from it. She is due to start her med school on 1st of October. Just to be on the safe side ,I also bought her Moore’ anatomy too,so she can choose the reading styles she likes . I used a photocopy version of grants anatomy 27 years ago,as I could not afford any books than and plus used to borrow snell’s anatomy from friends and share Mcminn’s atlas. I prefer moore’s ,but Gray’s is still considered a gold standard. Most important it is to know your anatomy regardless of the book you use . Finally, good luck to every one who are going to start reading Medicine this year,God bless you all and I hope you have a pleasant journey through next 4-6 years.

When will i ever learn!

I feel like i’ve been ripped off buying this book. I’m not an academic or even a student but i am a genius, so i thought i’d turn my attention to anatomy and physiology to see what good i might eventually be able to do. After a week or so of researching which are the best books, and sifting through tens of PDF’s i decided Gray’s Anatomy was the best text book for anatomy and Frank Netter the best illustrator, so i bought Franks flash cards and this book. I’ve been so exicted the past 10 days or so, preparing things, knowing it was going to be the biggest challenge i’ve ever had with regards to learning about a subject, so i put a lot of time into setting things up. This morning i finally opened this beautiful looking book and read the introductions and preface etc, then just before the first page it tells you that this isn’t Gray’s Anatomy, although it is meant for students they will only be left with a basic, although thorough understanding of gross anatomy. I’m very disappointed that people even at this level of intelligence and especially in the caring profession of medicine have wasted my time and money, KILLED my enthusiasm and left me very very depressed as i’m realsing these guys are more interested in selling books and misleading people rather than make things absolutely clear so to encourage great thinkers to come forward and continue to solve problems for the world.
I’m not happy at all. I’m very VERY unhappy.
