Description of Lippincott Illustrated Reviews Immunology PDF
This edition of the Lippincott series is one of the best additions to the immunology subject. This book coupled with the microbiology one will get you through both the subjects in a matter of time for any exam be it your college board or the step or the MRCP. Get these books and start reading now to master it.”The figures are excellent and self-explanatory; they really complement the text – in fact the figures go a long way in helping to explain difficult concepts.” – Dr. Kim O’Neill, Professor of Microbiology, Brigham Young University “I like the general format of the illustrated review and think that it is a very good format for the review of immunology.” – R. Blackstock, PhD, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Oklahoma Health Science Center “The format is great!! True outline format usually lacks grammar, making it tough to understand. This uses concise language and gets right down to the point without compromising clarity….LIR fills in the gaps that review books tend to leave out. This would be a great book for a student like me who was overwhelmed with the details in the textbook and needs something more than a skeletal outline for boards review.”–Amy Laude, Student, Loyola University Health System “The LIR format in general is a good organizational approach to a complicated topic. The approach breaks down the overview of immunology into palatable subtopics that logically reflect the science of the field.”–Laurel B. Murrow, M3, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine”

- I would read this before class to help understand the concepts and flow of the immune system. This book covers all the main topics of Immunology: Innate and Adaptive, transplantation, autoimmunity and hypersensitivity. It also has a clinical aspects of immunology chapter.
What this book is lacking is a more complete disorders listing. While it does use certain disorders as an example of a process, I found myself having to reference several other books to get a complete list of immunological disorders.
That being said, I love all of the lippincott series, and brag about them to my fellow medical students. They are the reason I am still passing!
I got this book because I do biostatistics for a living and I needed a book to help me understand the biology behind the projects I am working on. I am *very* happy with this book. The writing is excellent, the graphics are wonderfully clear, the tables are useful and the glossary and index are both good. As a bonus there is the right amount of white-space on the pages to allow me to take notes. The writing is fairly dense but there is enough repetition that it is not an overly difficult read. If you want to learn about the mechanisms and hardware of the immune system this is an excellent buy.
